Of art and beauty

A great artist does not praise his own work, he draws inspiration from those who critique them.

True art thrives not just from the artist, but from those who come in contact with it.

True beauty does not look from the mirror but from those who can feel it.

To possess great work, be open to failures and critique to your art. Seldom do great artists proclaim they own the best before others say so.

An artist who proclaim they have the best  have lost the meaning of Art.

On travel

As we grow older and possibly - as we'd like to think - wiser, time becomes our most coveted commodity. Time to work, to close that deal, to cinch that sale, to make more money.  Time to play, with our friends our family. Time to rest, to recharge to rejuvenate and sometimes just to be with ourselves.

I found myself in the company of some wonderful people recently. And spent the most precious commodity with them doing what we always do best - eat play drink and have fun.

One lamented that some of us had to redo the same journey last year as this. Some had too little time to do so much, while others had to battle a bout of flu or two.

Each day was different just as each turn of the road brings a different view. It's not so much the destination nor the sights. But the journey with the people that makes the experience.

Each trip is different even if the places remain the same. It's the time with the people and the intimacy that we share which makes each journey unique as each one of us.

The road ahead is always filled with new and exciting sights sounds and smells waiting to be explored. Come journey with me when you have the time. Come drink with me when you are happy or when you are sad. Come eat with me when you are hungry or when you've had too much to share. Come sit with me when you need to pour your woes or when you need another opinion. Or simply when it feels better to be alone with someone else.

We've shared time and journeys together. So often it might be the intimacy that's lacking.

So think of me sometimes, deep in you, without the distractions of the world, remembering who we are, lest you forget who I really am.

Flashback

Wala. June 2013.
I miss the band the people the place.
So many years have passed so many people we've met and passed by.
The more new places we seek, the more I want to hold on to this place.

Call me sentimental, call me an old fart, call me insecure, but the more the world changes the more we must hold on to our roots.

June 1992- June 2013. God I miss you.

Some private time

I took a day off from work today, not wanting to start a new year too quickly. After all there is always too much work to be done, and too little time to enjoy any quiet time.

How I love the quiet time being home with the dogs. Watching them do absolutely nothing but look happy. Watering the plants, cleaning the house. And curling up to a good book with a cup of tea.

I could not tear myself from checking the emails for an hour or so when I decided I had enough.

My resolutions for this year :
1. Spend more time with my parents
2. Spend more time with my dogs
3. Yoga more often
4. Run a marathon

And I think I will be happy doing so. Happy 2013.
